Yes, I am completely aware that this song came out almost two years ago, and therefore not that new or current. However, that doesn’t mean that it’s not an excellent song and that it’s not still being played everywhere you go. Tame Impala is slowly becoming one of the most talked about bands in the indie music world, to no surprise, seeing as though they have released two amazing albums and the fact that they are incredibly talented in every sense of the word. Tame Impala is composed of Kevin Parker, Dom Simper, and Jay Watson, whose work ethic really shines through, to their beautifully crafted melodies and harmonies to their impressive vocals. They are a band that can only be described as a breath of fresh air and gorgeously unique. In their single “Feels Like We Only Go Backwards,” I hear a number of things (including influence from late sixties Beatles songs and feelings of psychedelia), and overall, it sounds breezy, hazy, and simply effortless. According to the band’s website, they aim to make “psychedelic hypno-groove melodic rock music,” and in my opinion, they are doing precisely that. I can’t wait to see what they will bring in 2014. “Feels Like We Only Go Backwards” is from Tame Impala’s second studio album Lonerism, which was released in 2012.
