Vacationer – “The Wild Life”

886444543606.170x170-75Vacationer is a five-piece indie band from Philadelphia, but their music sounds tropical and breezy, which makes total sense when you look at their name. In fact, front man and lead singer Kenny Vasoli explains that their music is part of the Nu-Hula genre, which is a made up term that basically means that they are attempting to the new wave of tropical music. That term is pretty accurate to me, and these tropical techniques are heard in their new single “The Wild Life.” The use of tribal drumming, spiffy, colorful guitar riffs, and clapping mixed with Kenny Vasoli’s striking voice makes this song have an overall exotic feel. “The Wild Life” is from Vacationer’s upcoming album Relief, which is expected to be released in June of 2014.
